SUMMARY:JOIN US FOR AN AFTERNOON TEA & CONVERSATION IN HONOLULU!
DESCRIPTION:You’re Invited: A Candid Conversation About Medical Gaslighting—Understanding the #1 Patient Safety Concern of 2025. \nLearn more about Dr. Feren \nMedical gaslighting—when patients feel their symptoms are dismissed or not taken seriously—has gained national attention as a serious issue in healthcare. While often unintentional on the part of physicians and other health care professionals\, it arises from systemic pressures like time constraints\, administrative “overload\,” communication breakdowns\, and cognitive biases. \nThis topic has become front and center: ECRI (Emergency Care Research Institute) earlier this year named “dismissed patient\, family\, and caregiver concerns”#1 patient safety concern for 2025 – i.e.\, Medical Gaslighting.  \nJoin us for an eye-opening but balanced presentation that looks at this issue from both sides of the stethoscope—through the lens of patients\, providers\, and the healthcare system as a whole. Whether you’re a healthcare professional (active or retired)\, a patient advocate\, or simply someone interested in the future of care\, this discussion offers valuable insight and practical ideas for creating more respectful\, responsive medical experiences that lead to optimal clinical outcomes.  \nDr. Alan Feren will be giving this presentation on Nov. 19\, at the Outrigger Canoe Club. His bio can be found here. \n\n\n\n\n\n  \nVENUE \n\n\n\n\n\nOutrigger Canoe Club Beach\nOcean Room\n\n\n2909 Kalakaua Ave\n\n\nHonolulu\, HI 96815\n\n\n  \n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n\n\n\n\n$35 for non-members\n\n\nTHIS EVENT IS LIMITED TO 100 ATTENDEES.\n\n\nALL ATTENDEES MUST HAVE A TICKET TO ENTER.\n\n\nAmazing Care Network members attend free! DESCRIPTION:PANEL TOPIC\n“Financial Wellness” \n  \nDESCRIPTION \nDear friends\, \nLearn more about Cameron Almond \nAt long last\, the San Diego Chapter of the Amazing Care Network will be meeting in person on March 23\, 2023 at the Rancho Santa Fe Golf Club.  It’s been way too long since we gathered\, but now that the pandemic is largely behind us\, I’m so looking forward to being with you in person.  As usual\, we will meet at 2 pm and have our guest speaker\, Cameron Almond\, speak at 3 pm. \nI invited Cameron from The Ayco Company to speak on how we ensure we don’t outlive our assets.  The pandemic taught me many things\, including the need to have my financial affairs in order.  Frankly\, too many friends suffered great anxiety over this issue especially when family members experienced prolong illness that was exacerbated by Covid.  There were worries about how to transfer assets without incurring huge tax liabilities and how to handle financial matters when a loved one is no longer capable mentally and emotionally to do so. \nI’ve known Cameron for years and is a trusted advisor to many families\, including my own. He has worked at the Ayco Company since 2014 and advises clients on estate planning\, wealth transfer\, investment strategy\, risk management\, and tax compliance. Please RSVP and join us. I would so love to see you again! \n\n\nCheers\,\nCora\n\n\n  \n\nVENUE\n\nRancho Santa Fe Golf Club\n\n\n5827 Via De La Cumbre\,\nRancho Santa Fe\, CA 92067\n\n\n\n  \n\n\n\n\n\nTICKETS\n\n\n$35 for non-members\n\n\nTHIS EVENT IS LIMITED TO 100 ATTENDEES.\n\n\nALL ATTENDEES MUST HAVE A TICKET TO ENTER.\n\n\nAmazing Care Network members attend free! SUMMARY:Talking With Strangers We Know
DESCRIPTION:DATE: May 20\, 2021 At 1PM PST \nHow can we learn new ways of listening to and talking with people we’ve known for a few years or all our lives\, who are now unable to communicate in the ways we’re used to? Kim will talk about the importance of improvisation when having conversations with our loved ones with dementia\, and what’s possible when we let go of our expectations of how those conversations are supposed to sound. She’ll look at how family members and caregivers can be more present with their loved one or client\, and ways in which music can soothe them and create avenues of communication. \nAbout The Speaker: Kim Fowler\n \nKim Fowler is the author of All Will Be Well: A Memoir of Love and Dementia. The book is a memoir of how her mother’s stroke and subsequent dementia impacted their family. \nCaregiving for her mother called upon Kim’s varied expertise\, from theatre to coaching. She was drawn to coaching “because it matched my belief that we are all fully resourceful individuals with the power to shift our lives and do whatever is needed to be the fully creative\, impactful\, deeply loving people we inherently are.” Her mother’s increasing mental loss demanded that she not only be that person\, but that she also needed to find and draw out some part of that person in her mother. \nAs a Professional Certified Coach\, Kim works with individuals\, partnerships and teams who are ready to remove limiting beliefs and behaviors and move through their professional and personal lives with mindfulness\, effectiveness\, spirit and action. She works with people from a lens of recognition of how race\, culture\, power and privilege frame those beliefs\, behaviors\, and her clients’ sense of choice. She also coaches people with partners or family members with dementia to help them find more of themselves as they support their loved one in living a life that is radically changing.  \nKim is working on a book of poetry\, short fiction and essays. She sings with the choirs Sacred and Profane in the Bay Area\, and Coro Santa Fe. She lives in Santa Fe\, NM.
