Through poetry\, storytelling\, language\, and moments of humor\, we will explore how dignity and compassion shape the caregiving journey for both caregivers and those they care for. \nOur conversation\, titled “Caregiving: A World of Dignity and Compassion Through Poetry\, Storytelling\, Language\, and Humor\,” will be led by Frances Kakugawa\, an award-winning author\, poet\, educator\, and long-time advocate for caregivers. Born and raised in Hawaiʻi\, Frances shares a personal and heartfelt perspective drawn from her owncaregiving experiences. Her work blends reflection\, cultural wisdom\, and gentle humor to provide insight\, comfort\, and encouragement to caregivers at every stage. \nFrances has written extensively about caregiving and personal resilience. As the author of 19 books\, she has received recognition from literary and caregiving organizations across Hawaiʻi and the U.S. For over 25 years\, she has supported caregivers through writing groups\, talks\, and workshops. Her experience caring for her mother with Alzheimer’s disease continues to inspire her mission: to help caregivers honor both their loved ones and themselves with dignity and compassion.
