Dear Friends,
I have flunked retirement again— this time to co-found along with my son Alex and friend, Dr. Hank Wuh, a company called Possara Quantum. It’s an organization that builds on the work Alex has done on two fronts: detect fall risks and prevent them, and a novel way of discovering new drugs aimed at cancer cells. Here’s the url in case you’re interested: possarumquantum.ai (PUNIL, please check and make sure I got this right!))
Start-ups require lots of energy, time and capital. At my age, most of these resources are in short supply, but we are soldiering on! It’s a pleasure and privilege to work along side Alex who has tons of energy and sheer brain power (this from a proud mother). And I’m in awe of Hank whose knowledge and connections are pushing the new company faster on its growth trajectory than I could have imagined. Here’s a link to his bio in case you’re interested: (Punil, please add).
I’m also happy to destroy a myth that us older folks shouldn’t tamper with new things, like starting a new company. Or indulging in a new found passion, such as learning a new skill or mastering an old one, or taking the time for all those things we’ve put off for lack of time/energy/money. I just got back from a train trip in the Canadian Rockies and met interesting people, all about my age. Some were in walkers or using canes. All were determined to learn about different things (we had three birders in our group and I learned a lot about birds in Canada!)
Among the gifts of this trip was the opportunity to connect with my friend from junior high school (yes, we’ve known each other for over 60 years!) Happily, we also connected with a much beloved high school speech teacher, Linda, who now lives in Victoria. The gift of connection matters more and more to me. And I’ve learned that those connections need to be nurtured. What a good use of my time to do just that!
With best wishes,
Cora
