Whether you’re a resolution-maker or not, try these five goals for the new year to help make a happier, healthier you!
- Exercise for at least 10 minutes every day
This could be as easy as a 10-minute walk. Ideally, you should get in 30 minutes of aerobic activity 3 times a week, but start small. Gradually increase your activity level per day, and you’ll be on your way to healthier habits.
- Find a volunteering opportunity
According to Helpguide, volunteering provides a sense of accomplishment and increases self-confidence, which can also help with depression!
- Revive an old friendship
It’s not always easy remaining close to friends who don’t live right down the street. But there are dozens of resources you can use to rekindle old friendships. Make a telephone call, send an email or reach out to one of your childhood buddies via Facebook or another social media platform. Make it your goal to keep in touch and possibly schedule a get-together in the near future.
- Spend more time with your family (especially the grandchildren!)
This year, consider gathering with your loved ones on a regular basis – every other week, every month, etc. – depending on how far you live from your children and grandchildren.
- Revisit an old pastime
What did you used to be passionate about? Fishing? Needlework? Collecting coins? If you have shelved that hobby (for whatever reason), now is a great time to revisit it and get back into it. It’s always important and beneficial to spend your time doing something that brings you joy.
