We loved these answers to our June Question of the Month: When are you old?

“I believe being old is a state of mind. I don’t feel old, don’t think old, therefore am not old.”

– Carol, San Diego

“For me, it’s all in the mind and how you look at life. For example: Seeing the sun every day vs the clouds, getting together with friends and family vs isolating yourself, being active (exercising, traveling, doing crafts etc., vs doing absolutely nothing), enjoying the local folks calling you “auntie” and asking you if you need help vs getting angry, having a sense of humor and a positive attitude vs always being negative. For me, you are ” old” only when the date of birth on your official records says you are.”

– Diane, Honolulu

“(I’m old) when I stop being a kid. I don’t foresee that happening for about a hundred years, so I guess I’ll be young for awhile.”

– Trevor, San Marcos

“My mother is 99 and she’s not old; I don’t think age defines ‘old’.”

– Lola, San Francisco

Is there a definition of ‘old’ anyway? I don’t think so. The earth is billions of years ‘old’. I’m 67 years ‘old.’ My granddaughter is 7 years ‘old.’ The term is relative, so don’t let it define you.

– Bea, Hollywood
